INCREDIBLE protection. I bought this bumper to appease my OCD in keeping the phone flat when it is sitting on my desk. I expected very little protection from drops. Boy, was I wrong.Yesterday I dropped my iPhone from counter height onto a ceramic tile floor. Corner hit, bounced across the bathroom. Before it even stopped cartwheeling I was thinking about when my schedule would allow me to get to the Apple store to repair the surely shattered screen. Nope. Not a scratch!I’ve attached photos of the damage to the bumper. I am totally shocked the thing protected my phone the way it did. I’m now happily buying a replacement bumper to get back to full protection.

I was really hoping I would like this case because for whatever reason there are very few bumper cases out there these days and none that are very protective. A long while back with maybe the iPhone 3 used to have a nice solid aluminum frame bumper case that attached with screws and was just really great craftsmanship and materials. It protected the phone very well but I can’t find anything like it these days. This case is basically a rubber bumper with thin aluminum glued to the outside edges. Bends like crazy even from normal use. It’s really slippery also. But the biggest issue is that there is ZERO camera protection. I put on screen protector thing that goes over the camera lens which I purchased here on amazon. After a week the protective layer over the camera is beat to hell and falling off. Which means it it wasn’t there the camera lens would have taken that damage. I did drop the phone twice with this case on and sustained no damage but one was a short drop and one I broke the fall with my foot. Both time the case bent and had to bent back to shape. This is 3 separate aluminum strips held together by a layer of tpu under it. So the case flexes at the 3 joints where there is only tpu. That said I think they did an okay job in terms of manufacturing and aesthetics. It just is a low level of protection and increases your probability of dropping it because it slick. Oh and because it is slick you have to hold your pinky under the bottom edge of the phone while you are using it so it doesn’t slide out. Well the slots cut out on the bottom for the speakers have sharp edges. Your pinky will have to rest on those edges so your pinky will get raw after using it a week or so if you hold it like I did to help prevent it from slipping out of your hand.

This bumper reminds me of my all time favorite! The original bumper cover by apple back when the iPhone 5 was released! I’ve never had covers in my iPhones with the exception of the iPhone 5.Having just spent 1500 on the max I was not willing to risk it. Specially with that glass back. However, I hate bulky covers!So when I saw this one I immediately had a flashback.The bumper fits nice and tight around the XS max. The vibrate button is slightly on the small size. But I’m able to move it.Th bumper looks nice and has a quality feel to it. The corners are raised and seems like it will protect the phone for most drops.Only lack of protection would come from dropping it directly to a raised sharp object in the middle of the screen.

Sleek and slim caseUpdate:Small flexible rubber area around charging port is stretching out from minimal use. This is causing the case to be loose and gaps are appearing between case frame and phone.

I always struggle with the idea of a case. I very much prefer the unaltered phone and although I rarely break them things happen. Apple care cost for a screen is only $30 but back glass is $100 so I’m a little more concerned now that replacements are getting so expensive even with apple care. I also find the camera bump very annoying as it causes the phone to rock. This case is very thin and the metal edge maintains that premium look. It’s got the slightest hard rubber edge that sticks up past the phone and case edge to provide a little edge grip. The edge on the back is slightly larger at the corners adding just enough to level out the camera bump. I don’t think the two corners at the bottom need to be raised too but they are not in the way so I don’t mine.As a guy that generally can’t stand cases. I like this on.

I have been a fan of bumper cases since Apple provided them for the iPhone 4. The RANVOO is a good continuation of that form factor. I ordered the ESR Crown bumper case at the same time. If you’re nostalgic for the iPhone 4 bumper, or truly wanting to keep a minimalist approach to sees, then this is a great buy. It feels authentically metal (versus some that are plastic but painted to look like metal) and has the right amount of rubber to keep the phone lifted and secure.I’ve had a couple of very light drops and the case doesn’t appear to be scratched or dented, unlike aluminum bumpers I’ve had before, and it matches the black of my phone, which is excellent.The back has little ‘lips’ that are, I’m assuming, supposed to be to protect the camera. It works, but sometimes they’ll get caught of my jeans as I pull it from my jeans or coat pocket - nothing bad, and it definitely helps keep the phone lifted. I spilled a cup of coffee and went to go wipe the back of my phone - which I though would have been covered from the spill a bit the little lips had it lifted to where the phone was completely dry, with except of the camera bump that was a little wet.

Caveat Emptor! The cost is cheap because it is cheaply made. I bought this on Aug 9th. By Christmas it has failed and is useless. First: The fit was never as snug as I would have thought for my Iphone but the biggest problem is there are these – best described – foam pads that extend out so you can utilize the buttons on your phone. They are quite loose and failed regularly. The one on the right side of my phone feel out, rendering the product useless – or at best – it will protect my phone, but I can’t utilize the right side “off” button. I understand why this product was so cheap. Over time, it seemed to get looser and looser around my phone. Look for another product.

I just got the new iphone max and ordered this bumper as the protection for the phone. I much prefer bumpers to cases since most cases are bulky and keep phone heat in. Two days after getting this bumper in and putting it on my phone, i dropped my phone on my concrete garage floor. This bumper saved my phones life! The bumper prevented any damage to the phone and the right lower corner of the bumper is dented in where it took the impact from the garage floor! WELL WORTH THE MONEY! Yes, it's just a bumper and you can't compare it to a case, it will be thinner and more flexible, but it works, my phone is living proof of that. Plus I reached out to the seller and explained what happened and they are sending me a new bumper for no extra cost to replace the one I have so that even makes it better! Highly recommend and took the huge bulky Apple one back!

As others have pointed out, because this iPhone bumper case is made of aluminum and they haven't re-designed the case to place rubber/plastic sections where the antenna bands are on the new iPhone XS and XS Max, using this case has a noticeable impact on your connection strength and download speeds. If/when they modify the design of the case to match the new iPhone design I'll definitely purchase and use that. Unfortunately, as is, you should only buy this case if like it enough to tolerate worse cell reception and data throughput.

Pretty good case! Haven’t lost signal and the buttons feel great! I ordered a second one in black.
