Spidey and MJ.
Spidey and MJ are meant to be but due to the events of One More Day they are no longer a thing. At least we get this.

Renew Your Mary Jane
I have to say that I did not like anything Marvel editorial did with Spider-Man after J. Michael Straczynski leaving. And even during JMS’s run Queseda’s influence was big with Spider-Man unmasking, the Civil War Tony Stark surrogate father thing and finally One More Day, and much of what made Spidey for me was destroyed. So I did not like much that Dan Slott did with him although I liked Slott as a writer before. His She-Hulk run still is one of the best runs on a main stream comic for me.I tried a paperback collection every couple of years but neither Big Time nor Ock-Spidey nor Peter-Parker-Is-Tony-Stark-Himself-Now did anything for me.But I had to try out this one of course. When I was young I was in love with Gwen Stacy. Luckily I stopped reading Spider-Man before they killed her and I returned only many years later. What conquered me for Spidey again was what Tom DeFalco did with Mary Jane in the eighties. He made a character with depth out of her, and since then MJ was as much a part of the franchise for me as Spidey himself. The Spider-title I enjoyed most during the last twenty years was ... Spider-Girl.And now Slott touches this again with the mini-series reprinted here. I have to say he does quite well. More than most of what I have read of his pen during the last decade it touches what is the core of Spider-Man: Responsibility, secret identity and family, all missed in his mainstream franchise lately. I always knew that Slott can write, his stories just lacked interesting me. Here we have a tale that will grab everyone who loves the Parkers as I do.And Adam Kubert once more shows that he still is one of the best.So mind you Marvel: MJ does not belong to the Iron Man imprint. MJ belongs with a Spider title. Man or Girl, just as you prefer.
