Home owner in need of a cheap used truck.
I'll keep this updated as I go along. I am in no way a mechanic. But I have invested in some proper tools with the aim to save money. So far all my tools have paid for themselves. I am writing this review to see if this $15 tool is worth the money. I'm in California so emmissions/smog is a big deal here.12/6/2019 - Brought this along when I met with a seller for a 97 Ford Ranger 2.3L truck with 104k miles. Listing said it would not pass smog. Using this and after randomly downloading 'Auto Doctor' for my iPhone 10XR, found the truck was throwing out 3 codes: P0443, P0453, & P0171. I knew nothing about those codes, but we closed at $350 for the truck (they were asking for $500 and just wanted to get rid of it), so what the hell. They even drove it 15 miles to my house to drop it off. P0443 is an issue with the evap sensor and/or solenoid ($70 in parts, less if I go non-OEM. But a lot more if it is the ECU), P0453 is a gross leak in the evap line (depending on where it is through the filler hose, this is going to cost me $.50 in tubing to $50 in a new filler hose. P0171 is a lean code on bank 1. I plan on changing all the sparks anyway. Cleaning the MAF, intake valve, IAC, the air filter, all new fluids, etc.My phone had no problem connecting to the WiFi signal from the scanner. The ap did struggle a bit to connect to the scanner though. Took a 2-3 tries. But it eventually connected and gave me quick readings. That is an ap problem. InI'll try other aps to see if there is any improvement. In the meantime, waiting on some parts. So far so good. 5 stars at this point.

Works easy on all cars, gives lots of info and MPG
Save your money and don’t buy the expensive brand when your phone is already a processor. Just need a OBD2 receiver like this one for cheap. Runs on WiFi because WiFi is faster loading info then Bluetooth. Get instant RPM and other readings. You don’t need anything fancy and expensive when your phone is already a computer that’s why it’s cheap.

Good scanner, but you'll need a good app to run it.
After trying in vain to connect for 30 minutes, I realized the app that's was recommended in the instructions was possibly the problem. I deleted it and downloaded "Car Scanner" (iOS) and it worked like a champ. Using a good app makes all the difference. If you can't connect to the device, try a different app.

Easy to use and accurate!
This thing has worked perfectly so far! Plus in and is easy to find on your iPhone WiFi. Highly recommend if you need to properly time passing an emissions test or just want to deal with problem codes and clearing them instead of running to a mechanic every time.

Panlong OBD2 reader IOS
Works as advertised! Complete plug and play OBD2 reader. You will have to download an app onto your phone (I used DashCommand - $10 purchase on IOS) to clear codes and I'm sure access further features the free app doesn't give you. Well worth the $30 total to have. Shipping was quick!

Cannot turn off engine light unless you pay extra
It gives the appropriate signals, but you cannot turn off engine light unless you subscribe to the monthly service or about $30/month, Not consumer friendly. SCAM.

Simple. Works.
Works well. Can't complain for the price. The directions are lacking. I couldn't get it to work at first until I disabled mobile data. The app they recommend for android (Torque_Light) I found very lacking and confusing. I ended up using Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by 0vZ. It gave more directions and felt easier to find what I wanted.
