Perfect licorice balanced with sweetness
I love this candy I had them while visiting Denmark a few years back. It is just the right combo of black licorice with sweetness. The egg for Easter is a bonus

Not so great
I ordered these because they looked pretty and I thought they could be really yummy. I have never tried these, but I certainly gave my hopes up. I was really disappointed. Not worth the money at all. I wish I would have chosen a different treat.

A Bit Disappointed
I previously bought a jar of the sour strawberry and loved it so I bought the variety pack hopeful I'd enjoy other flavors. I realize now that the sour strawberry is made with a different kind of licorice than the majority of flavors in the variety pack. Some of the flavors are ok but really nothing special compared with the three fold combination of chocolate, sour, and licorice. Some of the flavors in the pack however I can only describe as briney puke. The heavy saltiness and the soft black licorice forms a really revolting combination in the mouth that's like throwing up salt water.I was also disappointed by the packaging. It looks nice in the box but I expected the individual "capsules" to be removable so you can dispose of the box. That is not the case, instead the box itself is recloseable like they expect you to keep the (massive) box around until you finish eating all of it. Luckily I still had the superior resealable container from the sour strawberry so I was able to use that instead.Even the sour strawberry in this pack pales in comparison to the original jar I bought and I'm not sure whether that's due to the lesser packaging of the combination pack or a cognitive effect of having it next to the lesser flavours.

Best Caramel Licorice ever.
Wow, these are the best licorice candies I had so far. The center is a solid semi soft licorice piece with good black licorice taste and no off flavors. Then it is surrounded by chocolate and then a candy shell. The chocolate has notes of caramel and salt and then candy shell gives a nice crunch to it all. This is a must have for all licorice lovers.

Quality Control Issues - Not worth the price - Insult to Licorice lovers
TLdR: Some of the licorice pieces are impossible to chew. Literal bricks. Box is inconvenient but good to try a multitude of flavors. Not a great value for money. Alternatively eat a piece of cheap chocolate and soft black liquorice from a local gas station for a nearly identical but much cheaper and far more enjoyable experience. (Individual flavor reviews below)First off this arrived free from damage in a rather thick box. The spring design is cute, but as others mention there is no storage outside or the box which is rather inconvenient due to its flat but large size. Each of the 8 flavors comes with exactly 7 pieces, just as the photo shows there is no stacking of pieces. This means you receive a total of 56 pieces, or at the time of this review, about $.80 each. That's rather pricey for a sweet treat . Speaking of sweet, some of these are intense. Like having more than 3 in a sitting causes physical tooth pain (the serving size is 5 pieces FYI.)Now to the candies themselves. This is not a soft licorice. It's HARD. Like very, very hard. There are some pieces that I physically cannot chew they are that hard. (No I don't have any prior knowledge of jaw or tooth issues and this is the first time I've encountered this issue. Nor has it occurred with any other food since). The chocolate coating basically melts off into your mouth right away so you have the taste of the chocolate, but not really a good mix between the chocolate and the licorice together. Its more like you had a piece of chocolate and chased it with a tiny lump of hard licorice. Softer liquorice would help but there may be issues with the coatings that way.Onto coatings, here is my personal ranking of flavors.1. Dark chocolate sea salt. (7.5/10)Sometimes, simple is best. Because of the sweetness of the licorice, the dark chocolate is perfect. I almost want it a touch more bitter but this was my favorite by far. I'm not the biggest dark chocolate fan but this one is seriously good. If there is only one flavor to get, you will absolutely not regret chosing this one.2. Laemon. (7/10)This one was surprisingly good. I do enjoy citrus flavors but normally tend to rank caramel and toffees above them. The slight tang of the lemon goes extremely well with the chocolate and slightly salty liquorice. Unfortunately, at this time I don't see an option to purchase these individually on Amazon, and this may be one of the only ones I would even consider repurchasing.3. Salt and Caramel (3/10)Despite being third on the list, it's a far cry from the other two flavors. Many of these were hard and difficult to chew, and I didn't get much of any caramel here. The salt ended up being the only reason for this ranking. Caramel is normally my favorite flavor so I was super disappointed.4. Passion Fruit (2.5/10)This one was... odd. I thought the fruitiness would come through more but again you don't really taste much beyond the initial bite of chocolate followed by a hard sweetness. The best part of this was the bright yellow color being a nice break from the browns.5. Crispy Caramel (1.5/10)You would think that because it says "crispy" in the name that there would be some texture in it. Nope. Just the same hard chew and no trace of caramel.6. Crunchy Toffee (1.5/10)To follow the previous listing... There is once again no trace of a crunch here. Hard and slightly rancid tasting. Normally I love toffee but this is just not it.7. Sour Strawberry (1/10)Now the flavor of this one was actually a nice mix of sour and sweet similar to the Laemon, why is this one so much farther down then? Of all the flavors, there was only one of these I could actually eat. The remainder were literally so hard I actually ended up hurting my jaw before giving up. These were closer in texture to jawbreakers than a liquorice. Since they're basically inedible I couldn't place them higher despite the somewhat pleasant taste.8. Original (0/10)The original is usually a good baseline, something that appeals to a lot of people before branching off into preferences. Unlike the other selections that are encased in a chocolate shell, this is more of a powder, and it is not good. Tastes like baking cocoa and sadness.Overall I was super disappointed with the quality of these considering the "luxurious" price tag. Maybe I got a bad batch but I will absolutely not being buying or recommending these to others. If you must try them, get a small container of the sea salt and don't waste your time on the box. The flavor options are tempting but end in nothing more than disappointment.
