Brand name mattered, in my experience
Recommended!I bought this genuine Kohler part to replace one that looks just like this, except not from Kohler. That cheaper one worked poorly because it would bind a bit against the porcelain tank where the shaft goes through the side wall of he tank. So you'd flip it to get the potty to flush, and that would work, but the lever would sometimes stick in the down position until you jiggled it, and that meant sometimes the potty just kept running until you noticed it and went in and jiggled it.This genuine Kohler part doesn't get stuck. It just works.Honestly, you would not think that a toilet flush lever could BE a bad product. But evidently, some are good and some are poor. This Kohler one, installed in my Kohler toilet, is a good part.

Don't waste your money - cheap piece of junk
Made of the wrong kind of plastic. The long plastic lever is very flexible, I have to turn the flush handle about 90 degrees, the long plastic piece flexes and bends so much it is barely able to lift the flapper. This one is literally a piece of cheap chinese made junk! I just purchased one made of brass and expect 1000% better results.

fit my Kohler side (ish) flush toilet
Perfect fit but the handle is metalized plastic and very light weight. The handle on the old one was metal. The new one doesn’t have the kind of weight you like to have in a flush handle. Was easy to install and hope it lasts for awhile.

This handle replacement is, like most things nowadays, made primarily of plastic, vinyl, nylon, etc. It's easy to install, works well, but I miss the old days when things were built to last.
